Band of the week, nay, YEAR: Marah....

they have been around for a while but well under my radar. thankfully Karla Petty consistently and persistently forced them upon me until i had to listen to them for real. it took me a while to get into their "style" of rock, but based on last night, all i would have had to do was go to one of their shows. it is like the ray of light descending from heaven as the clouds part to reveal the location of the Holy Grail. It was one of the best concerts i have ever been to in my life. I am still soaking it up, and soaking the blood that oozed from my ears. ok so that isnt true, but it was loud. i loved every second of it. it was rock. REAL rock. they had passion, they had fun, and they were really good. REALLY good. listening to the albums is one thing, going to the show opens your eyes to who they really are and where they are coming from. what a freaking awesome band.

from the cordless mic allowing Serge to walk out into the crowd and lie down on the floor in the middle of a song to the case of Bud Light consumed by the band on stage as they were playing to the dozen cigarettes smoked while playing (cause they are rock stars and know it and can do whatever the hell they want) to the switching instruments, the sick drumming in the back. it was a rocking show. hard, raw, sweet and delicious rock music.

Bulletin: Rock is back. True rock. Good rock. and Marah is the Grand Marshall of the inaugural parade.

they are for real. buy their music. go to a show. the kids from Philly rocked my face off. and i love it.

here is their site
